Guild Wars 2 is ideal because they just use old engine and upgrade it heavily to handle things like jumping, pretty graphics, etc.

I think a lot of it has to do with the unsustainability of the trend they started with Factions, making stand-alone campaigns every 6 months each of which try to keep people who own other campaigns, who want to take their characters to the new campaign, happy with content for them, AND be able to, at the same time, break new players into the game. In some ways that system is exciting, but I think if we had yet another one, we'd all begin to feel it start to collapse under its own weight.

Artisan: I agree, but a slight correction. Only Nightfall actually made the 6 month date.
Factions came a year after Guild Wars, and GW: EN has already missed the 6 month mark, and is not due out until "holiday 2007." |

Well, take World of WarCraft. They have added material, added a whole expansion, seems to be prospering rather than dwindling.
As to whether you want to "jump ship" from any online game, think the question to ask is "Am I Still Having Fun?" If you're not then go do something else.

My thought...
... thats how gaming works. A game really lives for 1-2 years, then the hardcore community sticks to it, but the game is officially dead. And imo its good that way... |
